Sea Life

Cotton needs large volumes of water in order to be produced. Due to fast fashion this has caused the Aral sea to disappear. This is the basis of my inspiration for designs of this project. Sustainability was the focus for this project aimed at a brand sold at Selfridge's, Paul Smith. I chose this brand as one of the ethos' is to create clothes that have quality, not for quantity. The brand has a 'quirky' and 'eccentric' style that allowed me to explore creativity in my designs. I developed my drawings from primary research at the sea life centre as well as secondary images. Sublimation printing and digital embroidery were the processes used in this project to maintain a high quality look. Placement, repeat and all over patterns were created with a range of motif scales. The colour palette and motifs were kept throughout the designs to showcase a strong collection.
