This project involved exploring textile techniques to develop a series of pieces that could be used as designs for shoes. I was inspired by the word ‘decay’ as a focus for my concept. It involved researching decaying fruit as well as decaying foliage. Analysing shoes was also required to understand the structure to develop textiles that would be suitable. The final samples consisted of knit, embroidery and print techniques, producing mixed media pieces. Long knitted samples were also created as an idea for shoe laces. These samples should show innovative new ways designs for shoes could be developed.
